Join experts from the University of Arizona, Arizona Department of Health Services, and Yavapai County to “Take a Deeper Dive Into Mining & Effects on Health.”

Keynote Speaker, Yavapai County Supervisor, Dr. Donna Michaels, will share a recap of mining in our communities including Jerome, Clarkdale and Cottonwood. This discussion will include current and past remediation efforts.

The University of Arizona’s Environmental Science department will be represented by Professor Dr. Raina Maler and Associate Professor Dr. Monica Ramirez-Andreotta. They will review Mining Community research related to Environmental Health Services and prepare the audience for soil sample collections for pXRF analysis.

Ginny De La Cruz is the Childhood Lead Prevention Program Manager at the Arizona Department of Health Services. She’ll share protective measures against potential exposure to contaminants with a focus on dust and incidental ingestion.

Dr. Shaida Sina, Breakthrough Medicine, will facilitate the session.
