May is Electromagnetic Radiation Syndrome (EMR Syndrome) Awareness Month

This awareness month affects CHDAZ personally. Our President, Melissa Hayes, is a research scientist with Electromagnetic Radiation Syndrome (EMR Syndrome). Her accessibility is limited by this condition, but she doesn’t let it break her spirit.

What is EMR Syndrome

EMR Syndrome is a medical condition arising from exposure to human-made electromagnetic radiation (EMR), including wireless radiation. EMR is emitted by a wide range of technologies, such as cell phones, cell towers, antennas, smart watches, tablets, computers, wireless earbuds, smart meters, Wi-Fi networks, and Bluetooth devices.

EMR Syndrome is becoming more common.

A shocking 1 in 8 U.S. adults report adverse health effects from wireless radiation—and many others may be experiencing symptoms of EMR-S without realizing the cause. Common symptoms include: insomnia, tinnitus, headaches, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, dizziness, skin rashes, and heart arrhythmias. Symptoms can range from mild to life-threatening.

Of those who reported health effects from wireless radiation in the U.S., Australia, and Canada, 80.6% also reported being chemically sensitive, 53.8% had autism/autism spectrum disorder, 73.2% had asthma or an asthma-related condition, and 84.8% reported fragrance sensitivity.

An important aspect to consider with wireless radiation is that it does not act alone. The damaging effects from wireless can be stronger when combined with other toxins.

Research shows wireless radiation can have synergistic effects with other pollutants, such as heavy metals, pesticides, chemicals, and mold. Consider a metal spoon in the microwave—or baking soda and vinegar. The combined effect is more powerful than either element alone.

With the growing toxic burden of modern society and inside our bodies, it is essential to reduce our exposure to EMR and wireless where we can.

There are safer ways to connect with technology. Simply plug an Ethernet cable into the back of your router and turn off the Wi-Fi settings. Then, connect the Ethernet cable to your device using a USB-to-Ethernet adapter. Be sure to place the device in Airplane Mode with all wireless antennas turned OFF. This will significantly reduce wireless radiation near the body.

Many games, videos, and movies can be downloaded and played more safely with the device in Airplane Mode.

This is especially important for children. Research shows children are more negatively affected by wireless radiation due to their smaller bodies, lifetime cumulative exposures, and developing brains and nervous systems.
